Membership Registration Requirements

ECSACONM offers two membership categories with clear eligibility and fees structured around the regional financial year.

Financial year runs from 1 July to 30 June.

Category

Ordinary Member

For fully registered and practicing nurses and midwives with a valid professional license.

Registration fee:
USD 50 (once-off)
USD 30 joining fee + USD 20 first annual subscription
Annual subscription (from year 2):
USD 20 per financial year (July – June).
  • Must be a registered nurse and/or midwife with a valid practice license.
  • Expected to uphold the values and professional standards of ECSACONM.
  • Eligible to vote and hold leadership positions within ECSACONM structures, as per the constitution.

Ordinary Members maintain active status by paying the annual subscription of USD 20 every year (July – June).

Category

Associate Member

For trainees who have not yet obtained full professional registration and a practice license.

Registration fee:
USD 20 (once-off)
USD 10 joining fee + USD 10 first annual subscription
Annual subscription (from year 2):
USD 10 per financial year (July – June).
  • Open to certificate, diploma, and bachelor nursing/midwifery students who are not yet licensed to practice.
  • Once the trainee becomes a registered practitioner, they are expected to upgrade to Ordinary Member status.
  • Associate Members can participate in ECSACONM activities but may have limited voting rights as guided by the constitution.

Associate Members maintain active status by paying the annual subscription of USD 10 every year (July – June).

ECSACONM Namibia Chapter

Namibia Nursing Association is a professional organisation that represents and serves the interests of nurses in Namibia. Established to promote the nursing profession and advocate for the welfare of nurses, the NNA plays a vital role in supporting and advancing the practice of nursing in the country. The association provides a platform for networking, professional development and collaboration among nurses while also working to enhance the quality of healthcare services and improve the health outcomes of the Namibian population.

ECSACONM Zambia Chapter

Zambia has been a founder and active member of ECSACON since the college’s inauguration in1990. The country under the leadership of the then Registrar of the General Nursing Council together with other senior nurses and midwives participated into ushering ECSACON in to being. The country has held different regional positions including Presidency (Dr Eleanor Msidi) and Vice Presidency (Dr Theresa Sikateyo), faculty Chairpersons and members of the different faculties.

ECSACONM Lesotho Chapter

The Lesotho ECSACONM Chapter stands as a beacon of unity and progress within our nursing community. Our chapter serves as the cornerstone of professional development, knowledge exchange, and advocacy for nurses across Lesotho. Through our collaborative efforts, we address the pressing healthcare challenges facing our nation, leveraging our collective expertise to improve health outcomes for all Basotho people.

Zimbabwe ECSACONM Chapter

Zimbabwe ECSACONM Chapter is one of the strongest members of ECSACONM.The chapter has had an opportunity of some of our members holding the president and vice president`s posts in the past. Several of our members are founding members of ECSACONM who include Dr Rose Ndlovu (past president), Dr Cynthia Chasokela (past vice president) and Dr Cynthia Chaibva etc.

Eswatini Chapter

Eswatini nurses and midwives possess competencies and revolutionary knowledge and skills to navigate the vicissitudes prevailing in healthcare. Research, leadership, and education undergird the integration of innovation and technology to inform practice toward the provision of high-quality individualised nursing care for the individual, family, and community.

South Sudan ECSACONM Chapter

South Sudan ECSACONM Chapter was initially registered in 2008 during ECSACONM Conference in Kampala in 2008.

Then officially it was accepted in 2016 in a conference held in Harare, Zimbabwe.

ECSACONM Malawi Chapter

The ECSACONM Malawi chapter was established in 1990, soon after the college officially launched in the country. The chapter current membership is at 112 from all the 4 pillars of Nursing and Midwifery professions i.e., Education, Clinical Practice, Leadership & Management and Research. Representation in the Council of the National Representative (CNR) rotates to all QUAD members i.e. Policy, Regulatory, Association and Education.

ECSACONM SEYCHELLES CHAPTER

SEYCHELLES IS SITUATED IN THE MIDDLE OF THE INDIAN OCOEN COMPOSED OF A NUMBER OF SMALL ISLANDS WITH A POPULATION OF 108,000. THE NURSING WORKFORCE IS A LITTLE OVER 900 AND OVER 300 MIDWIVES WHICH INCLUDES EXPATRIATES TO SUPPORT THE SYSTEM.  SEYCHELLES IS A MEMBER OF ECSACONM SINCE ITS FORMATION AND DO PARTICIPATE IN THE QUADRIENNIAL CONFERENCES.

ECSACONM RWANDA CHAPTER

ECSACONM is anchored in the Human Resource for Health and Capacity Building program of the East Central and Southern Africa Health Community (ECSA HC), plays a consultative role on Nursing and Midwifery to the existing regional structure. It forms a platform for sharing and discussing the best practices and lessons learned in the ECSACONM region through technical working groups as well as scientific conference which is conducted biannually.

ECSACONM KENYA CHAPTER

ECSACONM Kenya chapter is one of the sixteen (16) chapters in ECSA region. In existence, the chapter is as old as the college and has remained to be one of the most vibrant chapters of the college since inception. It has a membership base of about 600 nurses  though the active members are slightly over 365 nurses/midwives .The chapter prides to be the only chapter with bi annual chapter conferences for its members, and  So far it has held three (3) consecutive successful scientific conferences latest one being August 2023.
